About Me

Path Top

I was born in Orkney and have lived here all my life being very proud to call myself an Orcadian.  Living in Kirkwall is fascinating being the main town in Orkney first becoming very important 1000 years when it was established as the Centre of Viking rule.

I am a Scottish Tourist Guiding Association Green Badge accredited tourist guide.   I am experienced in accompanying visitors to many of the exciting sites around Orkney, exploring the history over the past 5000 years, enjoying the scenery, wildlife and unique atmosphere whilst guiding my guests through an exceptional Orkney experience.

My spare time is spent with my family, my dogs, horse riding, carriage driving, presenting on local radio and bird watching amongst many other interests.

Orkney is a fabulous place to live and to visit, if you are planning to holiday in Orkney then I would be proud and delighted to share my local knowledge of the natural and cultural history and importantly my love for this amazing place.   I am not only a ‘driver guide’ with my own comfortable minibus accommodating up to 8 people, I am also available as a ‘step on guide’ to join you in your own vehicle, be it family car or a 50 seater coach!  For the larger groups I can arrange the local hire of a high-quality coach.

You have a great choice of set tours, which can be viewed on my website, and in addition to this I can arrange bespoke tours to suit your individual wishes.

As an Orcadian I speak in the local dialect, easy to understand and very unique to Orkney with it’s Viking heritage.  Many Orkney words and place names used today are from Old Norse origin and I am so very proud to continue using them.  You will leave Orkney knowing and maybe even using some of our wonderful Orcadian words.
